The Cadence Cycling Foundation works with youth between the ages of 9 and 18 years old to discover all the possibilities that the sport of cycling has to offer. CCF mentors and coaches help participants develop life skills, both on the road or in the classroom. Cadence athletes have an experienced coach teaching and training them twice a week during the spring and summer months and participate in races on the weekends. All equipment including bicycling, helmets, and transportation are free to the participants in the program.
Neighborhood Bike Works (NBW) is a youth development organization serving youth from ages 8 to 18. NBW has several locations throughout Philadelphia. To see which location is closest to your neighborhood check out their website for more information. Since 1996, NBW has offered classes on bike repair & bike safety after school, on weekends, and in the summer. By completing the classes and fixing up used bikes donated by the community, students can earn a bike for themselves with a helmet and a lock.
